At Cars for Kids, we are proud to support at-risk students in Texas through our partnership with Texans Can Academies (TCA). Since our founding in 1992, Cars for Kids has raised millions of dollars to help TCA provide crucial resources to students who need a second chance at education.

On July 31, 2024, we were thrilled to donate $850,000 to TCA, which will be used to enhance student services, including counseling, tutoring, and career readiness programs. With 12 campuses across Texas, Texans Can Academies offer a unique educational opportunity for students who are at-risk, have dropped out, or have special needs that aren’t being met in traditional school settings.

Our mission goes beyond raising funds—it’s about changing lives. Take the story of D'Karington Chaney, for example. After dropping out of high school at 17 to care for his mother, he wanted to return to school but needed to continue working. Thanks to the support of Cars for Kids and Texans Can, D'Karington graduated in 2023 while also working with Cars for Kids, helping prepare vehicles for auction. Today, he is part of our team, and his future looks brighter than ever.

Another success story is William Hollins, who struggled in a traditional high school environment but thrived at Texans Can. After graduating a year early, William went on to serve in the U.S. Army and is now on his path to becoming a corporate litigation attorney.
